Level 3

Candidates must successfully complete a total of six units. These units will comprise:

Candidates must achieve the following unit:

Optional Units

Candidates must achieve a further five units. At least four of these must be chosen from the following units at Level 3:

  • Help to manage a retail team
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of retail operations

Stock management

  • Organise the receipt and storage of goods in a retail environment

Visual merchandising

  • Choose merchandise to feature in visual merchandising displays
  • Plan, monitor and control how graphics are used in visual merchandising displays
  • Monitor the effect of visual merchandising displays and layouts
  • Allocate, monitor and control visual merchandising project resources against budgets
  • Contribute to developing and putting into practice the company's visual merchandising policy
  • Create plans, elevations and drawings to realise visual merchandising ideas

A maximum of one unit can be chosen from the following units:

  • Follow guidelines for planning and preparing visual merchandising displays
  • Follow guidelines for dressing visual merchandising displays
  • Order graphic materials for visual merchandising displays
  • Dismantle and store visual merchandising displays
  • Make props for visual merchandising displays

Retail Skills

Level 2

Candidates must successfully complete a total of six units. One mandatory plus five optional.

Candidates must achieve a further five units. At least four must be chosen from the following group at level 2

  • Help customers choose products in a retail environment
  • Maximise product sales in a retail environment
  • Provide information and advice to customers in a retail environment
  • Demonstrate products to customers in a retail environment
  • Promote loyalty schemes to customers in a retail environment

Stock Management

  • Receive goods and materials into storage in a retail environment
  • Put goods and materials into storage in a retail environment

Product Expertise

Clothing and footwear

  • Provide the lingerie fitting service in a retail environment

Food and drink

  • Process bake-off products for sale in a retail environment
  • Process fish and shellfish for sale in a retail environment
  • Process greengrocery products for sale in a retail environment
  • Finish meat products by hand in a retail environment
  • Contribute to dough production control and efficiency
  • Select, weigh and measure dough ingredients
  • Hand divide, mould and shape fermented doughs
  • Maintain food safety while working with food in a retail environment

Other

  • Prepare products for sale to customers in a retail environment
  • Assemble retail products in customer's home/workplace

Retail Sales Professional

Level 3

Candidates must successfully complete a total of six units. These units will comprise: The level 3 mandatory unit and four optional units in the level 3 Sales Professional pathway And One further unit, which may be taken: from the optional units in the Level 3 Sales Professional Pathway or from a restricted selection of optional units at Level 2

  • Provide a personalised sales and after-sales service to your retail clients

A maximum of one unit can be chosen from the following group of units at Level 2:

  • Promote beauty products to retail customers

Stock management

  • Organise the receipt and storage of goods in a retail environment
  • Audit stock levels and stock inventories in a retail environment

Product expertise

  • Monitor and help improve food safety in a retail environment
  • Assist customers to obtain appropriate insurance

Sourcing

  • Source required goods and services in a retail environment

  • Maintain the availability of goods and services in a retail environment

Management and leadership

  • Help to manage a retail team
  • Plan, monitor and adjust staffing levels and schedules in a retail environment

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of service provided by external suppliers to your customers

Optical Retailing

Level 2

Candidates must successfully complete a total of five mandatory units plus 3 optional units.

Mandatory Units

(Candidate must complete all 5 units)
  • Contribute to communications within the optical practice / store
  • Meet customers of the optical practice / store and provide information
  • Deal with customer concerns, complaints and dissatisfactions
  • Contribute to the record keeping of the optical practice / store
  • Contribute to health and safety in the optical practice / store

Optional Units

(Candidate must complete 3 units)
  • Select and sell optical products to meet customer needs
  • Determine facial, frame and spectacle lens measurements
  • Process optical prescriptions and order optical products
  • Provide a spectacle collection service
  • Provide a spectacle repair and adjustment service
  • Provide a contact lens collection service
  • Display and merchandise product in an optical practice / store
  • Carry out routine optical screening procedures
